Why the same blood test has three completely different prices
A basic metabolic panel or a thyroid panel can be billed at wildly different amounts depending on where the draw happens and who is billing. A hospital outpatient lab, an independent lab and a cash-pay contract rate are three different economies for the identical test on the identical machine. Patients almost never see any of those numbers before the sample is taken.
That is the part we change. Because Presence is a membership practice with no insurance billing in the middle, labs can be quoted at member pricing through participating partners, and you decide with the number in front of you.

How to use this without wasting money
Two honest cautions. First, cheap labs ordered without a reason are still wasted money — a panel that nobody uses to change a medication or a plan has cost you something and told you nothing. Second, direct-to-consumer lab menus encourage exactly that. The value here is a provider deciding what is worth testing and then reading it in the context of your history.

Do I need insurance to get member lab pricing?
No. Member pricing is cash-pay through participating partners and does not require insurance.
Will you tell me the price before the draw?
Yes. That is the point of the program — you get the member price for your specific order before anything is collected.
Can I use my insurance instead?
In some cases using your plan may cost less, especially if your deductible is met. We will not pretend otherwise; compare both.
What about imaging like MRI or CT?
