Healthcare benefits for construction and trades crews

Your crews start before clinics open and finish after they close. A benefit only works here if a foreman can use it from the truck at 5:40am and still be on site at 7.

Field-friendly · Household access · Predictable per-worker monthly cost

The short answer

Who this is for
General contractors, subs, and electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing and concrete companies running field crews across multiple jobsites.
What crews get
Unlimited 24/7/365 virtual visits by phone or video, so care happens before the shift instead of instead of the shift.
Why it fits the trades
No clinic hours, no jobsite-to-clinic drive, no half day lost to a waiting room, and the worker's family is covered on household plans.
What it costs
A flat monthly rate per worker. Quote is based on crew size and whether you fund it or offer it voluntarily.
Next step
Send crew count and we will return pricing.

Illness in the trades is a scheduling problem before it is a medical one

A framer with a sinus infection does not skip the doctor because he does not care. He skips it because the appointment is at 2pm, the jobsite is 40 minutes the wrong direction, and leaving means the crew stops. So the infection runs for ten days, he works through it, and eventually somebody takes a full day off instead of twenty minutes.

The same math applies to a worker's kid waking up with a fever. Somebody in the household has to handle it, and if the only option opens at 8am, the crew is short by 6:30.

A benefit that requires a daytime clinic visit does not solve any of this. One that answers the phone at 5am does.

Before the shift, not instead of it

24/7/365 virtual visits by phone or video. A worker can be evaluated and have a prescription sent to a pharmacy near the jobsite before the crew rolls out.

Works across jobsites

Crews move. The membership does not depend on being near one clinic — it goes wherever the worker is that week.

Illness, not injury

This is for sickness, ongoing conditions and everyday medical questions. On-the-job injury still goes through workers' compensation, and we say so clearly to every crew.

What crews actually use it for

Respiratory and sinus infections, skin infections, stomach bugs, rashes and bites, blood-pressure and diabetes follow-up, medication refills, and the questions people otherwise sit on for weeks. Heat-related illness questions in a Texas summer come up often enough to matter.

For workers based in the Fort Worth area, membership also includes in-person primary care with the same provider each visit, at the member rate — which is how a crew member with high blood pressure finally gets consistent follow-up rather than an urgent-care visit every eight months.

  1. Worker calls or opens video

Any hour, from the truck, the trailer or home. No appointment queue for included virtual care.

  2. Licensed provider evaluates and treats

Prescriptions go to a pharmacy the worker can actually reach on the way home. Labs and imaging, when needed, are quoted at member pricing before anything is ordered.

  3. Follow-up without a new bill

Virtual follow-up is included, so a recheck does not become another cost decision.

  4. Local visit when hands-on care is needed

DFW-based workers can be seen in person at the North Richland Hills practice, with in-office visits at $129 each on the $19.99 plan or two included a year then $99 each on the $29.99 plan.

Funding it without wrecking the job cost

Most construction companies we talk to are not deciding between this and a rich group plan. They are deciding between this and nothing, usually because a group quote came back at a number that would have to come out of bid margin.

A per-worker monthly membership behaves like any other predictable job cost. You can fund it for the whole crew, fund the individual level and let workers add family at their own cost, or run it entirely voluntary through payroll deduction.

This tends to fit companies that

  • Run field crews that start early or finish late
  • Lose production days to illness that could have been handled in 15 minutes
  • Have workers with no health plan at all today
  • Want to keep skilled trades from leaving for a competitor with benefits
  • Need a cost per worker that can be estimated into a bid

Be clear with your crews that this is not

  • Health insurance or minimum essential coverage
  • Workers' compensation or care for an on-the-job injury
  • Emergency care — a serious injury or chest pain means 911
  • In-person care outside the Fort Worth area

Questions people ask

Can a worker use this for a jobsite injury?

No. On-the-job injuries go through your workers' compensation process. Presence handles illness, ongoing conditions and general medical questions.

Do workers need a smartphone?

No. Virtual visits work by phone call as well as video, which matters for crews without reliable data on site.

What about Spanish-speaking crews?

Tell us your crew's language needs when you request pricing and we will confirm what we can support before you commit — we would rather say no than oversell it.

Can we add seasonal workers only during the busy months?

Yes. Memberships are billed monthly and headcount can move up and down with the season.

About this information

Written by the Presence care team for patients considering care with us. Presence care is delivered by licensed providers, including a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner — not by a physician, and not by software. Meet your provider.

This page explains how our service works. It is general information, not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for an evaluation of your own situation. Whether testing, treatment or a prescription is appropriate is decided during a visit.

If this is an emergency — chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, or thoughts of harming yourself — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. See our emergency care notice.
