Health benefits for hourly and part-time employees
If most of your team averages under 30 hours, your group plan is a benefit they will never touch. This is the layer that covers the people your plan design leaves out.
No minimum-hours eligibility · Voluntary or employer-funded · Flat monthly cost
The short answer
- Who this is for
- Employers with hourly, part-time, seasonal or variable-hour staff who fall outside group-plan eligibility.
- What employees get
- Unlimited 24/7/365 virtual visits, member pricing on labs, imaging and medications, and household options for family.
- Why it exists
- Because eligibility rules, not employer intent, are why most hourly workers have nothing.
- What it costs
- A flat per-employee monthly membership. Fully voluntary costs the business nothing.
- Next step
- Request per-member pricing for your headcount.

The people your benefits plan was never designed to reach
Almost every employer with an hourly workforce ends up in the same position. There is a group plan, and there is a large group of employees who cannot get on it — because they average 22 hours, because they are seasonal, because they are in a measurement period, or because the employee contribution is more than they can carry on their paycheck.
So the benefits conversation with those employees is an apology. They are told what exists and then told they do not qualify, or they qualify and decline because the premium is unaffordable. Either way they end up in the same place: urgent care, an emergency room, or nothing.
A membership benefit sits underneath your plan rather than competing with it. It has no minimum-hours test and no underwriting, so you can offer the same thing to everyone on the schedule.
No eligibility math
Anyone on your roster can be enrolled regardless of hours, tenure or seasonality.
Affordable enough to be taken up
Household virtual membership starts at $19.99/month. Take-up matters more than plan richness when the alternative is nothing.
Layered, not competing
Employees on your group plan can still use a membership for 24/7 access and lower-cost labs while their deductible is unmet.
Voluntary or employer-funded: choosing honestly
Voluntary costs the business nothing and still improves the offer letter, but take-up depends entirely on how it is communicated. Employer-funded gets near-universal participation and is the version that changes absenteeism and retention conversations, because employees do not have to decide.
Fully voluntary
Employees opt in via payroll deduction. No employer cost. Best when margins are thin and you mainly need the access to exist.
Employer-funded base
You fund the individual membership for everyone. Employees who want household coverage pay the difference. Predictable ceiling, high participation.
Employer-funded household
You fund family-level access. This is the version that gets talked about in exit interviews and referrals.
Hybrid by group
Employer-funded for the core schedule, voluntary for seasonal or on-call staff.
What to tell employees
Say it plainly: this is a healthcare membership, not health insurance. It gives unlimited 24/7 access to a licensed provider by phone or video, member pricing on labs, imaging and medications, and — in the Fort Worth area — in-person primary care with the same provider each time. It does not cover hospitalization, surgery, emergencies or specialists, and it is not minimum essential coverage.
Use this when
- A large share of your team is under group-plan eligibility hours
- Employee contributions are causing your plan to be declined
- You have seasonal or on-call staff with no access at all
- You want one benefit you can offer every single person on the schedule
Do not use this to
- Replace a group plan for benefits-eligible full-time employees
- Satisfy an applicable-large-employer coverage obligation
- Cover major medical, emergency or specialty costs

Questions people ask
Is there a minimum number of employees?
Group pricing is available for small teams as well as larger ones. Tell us your headcount and we will confirm the structure that applies.
Can employees keep it if they leave?
Yes. Because the membership belongs to the person, they can continue it individually rather than losing access on their last day.
Does offering this affect our group plan?
It sits alongside it. Employees on your group plan may still use the membership for 24/7 access and member pricing on labs and medications.
About this information
Written by the Presence care team for patients considering care with us. Presence care is delivered by licensed providers, including a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner — not by a physician, and not by software. Meet your provider.
This page explains how our service works. It is general information, not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for an evaluation of your own situation. Whether testing, treatment or a prescription is appropriate is decided during a visit.
If this is an emergency — chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, or thoughts of harming yourself — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. See our emergency care notice.
