Virtual care for children and families, without guessing at 10pm
Most of what worries a parent at night is not an emergency and does not need a waiting room — but it does need a real answer. Here is which Presence pathway fits which child, what a provider can genuinely assess by video, and the symptoms that always need hands-on evaluation.
One-time visits for ages 13+ · Whole Family Virtual Care $19.99/month
The short answer
Presence clinician-led visits are for ages 13 and older. Children under 13 are cared for through Whole Family Virtual Care — $19.99 a month for the household plus a one-time $39.99 registration fee — where network clinicians assess each child's needs case by case. A sick or injured child who cannot breathe comfortably, will not stay awake or is severely dehydrated needs emergency care now.
- Who it is for
- Parents of children under 13 who need virtual care through the household membership, and parents of teenagers aged 13+ who can be seen by Presence directly.
- When it may not fit
- Any child with emergency symptoms, and any child needing hands-on examination. Newborn concerns belong with the child's paediatric clinician.
- What it costs
- Household membership $19.99 a month plus a one-time $39.99 registration, on a 12-month commitment. Teen visits follow the one-time visit prices.
- What to do next
- Read the child red flags first, then choose the household membership or a teen visit.
In an emergency call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Something is severe, or you are frightened
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Virtual care is not for emergencies.
Presence one-time and local clinician care is for ages 13 and older. Under-13 virtual requests are served through the Whole Family network pathway — you will not be left without an option.
Which pathway fits your child
Ages 13 and older
Eligible for one-time individual virtual visits — QuickCare from $19.99, phone $39, video $49 — as well as household membership.
Under 13
Served through Whole Family Virtual Care. This is deliberate: young children benefit from continuity and a record that follows them, not a one-off transaction.
Several children
One membership covers the household rather than charging per child, which is usually the deciding factor for families with more than one kid in school.

What a provider can genuinely assess by video
Video is better than parents expect for some things and worse for others, and knowing the difference saves you a wasted visit. A provider can see a rash's pattern and distribution, watch a child's breathing effort and speaking rhythm, look at an eye, assess hydration cues and general behavior, and — often most valuable — hear the history in enough detail to tell you whether this needs to be seen tonight.
What video cannot do is listen to lungs, look inside an ear, feel an abdomen, swab a throat or measure a temperature for you. When those matter, the honest outcome of a virtual visit is direction: what to watch, what to do now, and where to go if it changes.
Commonly handled well virtually
- Colds, coughs and fever guidance in a child who is otherwise behaving normally
- Rashes and skin concerns, including whether they need to be seen
- Pink eye and other eye redness questions
- Mild stomach bugs and hydration guidance
- School and daycare documentation after an evaluation
- Follow-up on something already assessed, and medication questions
Needs hands-on or emergency care
- Any infant under three months with a fever — be seen immediately
- Trouble breathing, working hard to breathe, or blue lips
- A child who is unusually sleepy, limp, inconsolable or hard to wake
- Signs of dehydration: no urine for many hours, no tears, sunken eyes
- Head injury, a bad fall, a possible fracture, or a deep or gaping wound
- Stiff neck with fever, a rash that does not fade under pressure, or a seizure
If you are worried about how a child looks or breathes, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait on a virtual visit.
Continuity is the point, not convenience
The frustrating part of pediatric urgent care is not the wait — it is starting over. A new provider each time means no memory of last winter's ear infections, the rash that turned out to be eczema or the medication that upset your child's stomach.
Household membership is designed around that: the same practice, a record that carries forward, and the ability to request a provider your family has seen before when that provider is available during their scheduled hours. It is a request, not a guarantee, and the next available provider is always an option.
Enroll the household once
One registration covers the family rather than per-child sign-ups.
Use it for the small things
The value shows up in the 9pm cough and the Sunday rash, not once a year.
Ask for the provider you liked
You can request a previous Presence provider for future visits when they are available during scheduled hours.
Keep your pediatrician for what needs hands
Well-child checks, immunizations and physical exams belong in person. Virtual care fills the gap between them.
Questions people ask
Can my child receive care?
Yes, with the right pathway. Ages 13 and older can use one-time individual virtual visits. Younger children are served through Whole Family Virtual Care.
Is it really $19.99 a month for my whole family?
Whole Family Virtual Care is $19.99 per month for the household, with a one-time $39.99 family registration fee. It is a 12-month membership, billed monthly, and it auto-renews.
Are there copays for virtual visits?
No copays apply to included virtual-care services. Services outside what the membership includes — labs, imaging or in-person care — are quoted separately.
Is this available at night and on weekends?
Included virtual care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Does this replace our pediatrician?
No. Well-child visits, immunizations, developmental assessment and any hands-on examination belong with an in-person pediatric practice. Virtual care covers the illnesses and questions in between.
Can I get a school note for my child?
A note requires an evaluation of the child. If documentation is clinically supported after that evaluation, it can be issued. See work and school note evaluations for details.
Can we see the same provider again?
You can request a previous Presence provider for future visits when that provider is available during their scheduled hours. Same-provider availability is never guaranteed, and the next available provider remains an option.
Is a membership insurance?
No. A Presence membership is not health insurance and does not replace catastrophic or hospital coverage.
About this information
Written by the Presence care team for patients considering care with us. Presence care is delivered by licensed providers, including a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner — not by a physician, and not by software. Meet your provider.
This page explains how our service works. It is general information, not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for an evaluation of your own situation. Whether testing, treatment or a prescription is appropriate is decided during a visit.
If this is an emergency — chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, or thoughts of harming yourself — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. See our emergency care notice.
